Because of Guiyang's geographic location, a quick trip from city center one can find themselves surrounded by forest, swimming in a lake, or rafting down a river. Although some of the parks are rather cemented over, loud and Chinese in style, many of the Forest Parks offer pristine beauty and a chance to get into real nature.

Forest Park 森林公园The Forest Park is one of Guiyang's natural parks. Located only a few km away from city center, the park is the largest urban forest park in China at over 30,000 hectares, but has surprising very few visitors. Currently a local NGO called Naturewise holds many nature events for local individuals and families. The park not being very developed turns into a great opportunity for one to get away from the large Chinese crowds and relax. When it is dry, the park is a great place to mountain bike, run, hike or have a picnic to get away from the city crowds. For more information click "Forest Park"
